Gray Again

Well, I spoke far too soon on the rain issue, as we're now right back to the weeks-long status quo of dreary, gray and contrast drizzle, punctuated by the occasional actual downpour. Groan. So much for any happy plans of cavorting in the sun this weekend.
I'm on my own today - Toys is away, artistically drawing his little heart out at one of the Academy of Art's Kostume Karnival events. (They don't actually use the "k" construction for the name, as far as I know, but I'm just irrationally fond of it, as evidence by my inability to pass by an eatery called the Koffee Kup or anything similar; it's just a stupid enough conceit to be charming.) At these events, models in various dress-up guises are available for aspiring artists to life draw to their heart's content. Which leaves me free to dredge up and organize tax receipts and hopefully write some catch-up LJ posts - I'm also tempted to clean and organize the house a bit, an impulse that doesn't come very often, so I'm tempted to go with it. In a moment, in fact, I may toddle off to the Office Max and take advantage of the sale they seem to be running there on furniture pieces - our book/video/CD collection is pretty out of control, and I think I spied with my little eye a cabinet that might actually help. But can I carry it home, in all its particleboard glory, without help? Hmm...
Damn, that was boring, huh? Well, that's what the weather outside looks like right now. Like this post. : (

Date: 2006-04-15 02:57 pm (UTC)I'm still trying to decide if I want to do the big cash and carry myself or not. I could probably wait until the Man gets home and give him a chance to feel all burly and stuff. Right now, I'm cleaning the kitchen, and trying to get a handle on my little "office" area again. As in, trying to make it look like an actual workspace where I can find things, such as it hasn't been in, like, er.... ever.

Date: 2006-04-15 06:24 pm (UTC)I have an irrational hatred of all such constructs. If i see a store or item that's deliberately mis-spelt i immediately swear to never touch it.
Except for the occasional Krispy Kreme jelly-filled because...
Jelly!
:)

Date: 2006-04-22 11:17 am (UTC)Your reaction is probably the more logical one - I mean, I should react to deliberate mispellings with horror, and sometimes I do (Comedy Central's "Motherload" website bugs the hell out of me, because it feels to me like no one already remembers the correct spellling of that term, or why), but for some reason, in the context of a coffee house or greasy spoon cafe, it's funny. And yes, donuts! Krispy Kremes are yum. : )

But i can overlook it for jelly-filled.
