I should probably do a longer review at some point that addresses some of the other items I liked about the movie, because there were a lot - as a followup to the ethical issues separating Xavier and Magneto, it's pretty ace, definitely more clearly applied than anything I can point to in the original source material. So whereas I have issues with Jean being reduced as a character to serve that plot rather than being given a plot in her own right, the plot she was made to serve was also a good one. It's actually far more faithful to the comics than either of the first two films (Toys pointed out just today that the plot of X1 rather strongly resembles that of the '60s Batman film with Adam West, and you know.. he's right. It's not related to anything in the X-Men comics.)
