Thereby demonstrating, once again, that Buffy was the man in the prior setting, and Spike was the woman. They're back - - on different turf, now, and the roles are again reversed.
Yes - the gender reversal thing was really, really obvious in S6 and kept going through S7. And now they're starting from a new place, so a lot of those old patterns will, necessarily, have changed.
