Chain is also high on my list of one of the most powerful, well written, perfectly in character but almost unbearably painful fics I've read. I nearly howled out load at the ending (no wait - I think I actually did). But I was consoled by the promise of a sequel (pouting now). I've kept it in hardcopy, but I don't think I could read it again. Not unless the sequel were to happen and make it all better in the end. As it is, it just hurts too much.
