It just struck me, all of a sudden, the way Angel was acting in the last few episodes was like a man who'd finally figured out the game he was playing and how to play it, complete with a little bit of method acting thrown in (about which next chapter will reveal a bit more). If his gambit in "Not Fade Away" meant anything, then I think he would have had to have realized what it meant for the SP to have him sign the Shanshu away.
