Ouch

Yeesh, I hate cramps. Hate hate hate them. If this is something I get to confront TPTB about post-this-life... oh, I will definitely have some things to say. If I could wish for a superpower, I think I'd want the ability to beam cramps at people. Nonlethal, but stops your in your tracks like damn. Men, be glad you don't have to deal with this shit.

... but you would if I had my cramp-beaming power. Yes, you would. Customer service with a smile on your face? Right, just try. Jokes about PMS? Of the past, 'cause this shit ain't funny. It effin' hurts. If my power were real, it'd be used for good. Global understanding, baby.

(Grumble grumble clutches stomach)

At least there's more Kolchak on Sci-Fi. Bless their little hearts.

sweetie, if you have a rice sock, heat it up and use it either on your tummy or your back, which ever relieves the cramps more for you. since my, err, return to fertility after having the baby, my cramps have been horrendous and this is the only thing i've found that helps.

I do have one of those. I typically use a heating pad - got one on my tummy right now - but I've used the rice sock for my back when it flares up because the shape is better.

And oh god, I'm sorry to hear that your cramps have gotten worse after the baby. For some reason I'd always heard that they were supposed to get better. Although... I've noticed in the past sometimes that too much dairy really makes the pain flare up. Maybe there's a correlation there?

And oh god, I'm sorry to hear that your cramps have gotten worse after the baby. For some reason I'd always heard that they were supposed to get better. in our case, since we're extended nursing, my menses were VERY delayed (went from june 03 to aug 05 w/o a period) so my hormones are a bit whacked, which i suspect is part of the problem. it's also possible that my daily cup of cocoa doesn't help, but it's not likely that i'm going to give it up.

i agree, the rice sock is great for shaping, plus you can safely sleep with it.

Thoroughly delighted to have left the world of cramps behind, thanks to the wonders of modern pharmacology.

Though the trade-off seems to be that I sweat much more easily now, I'd much rather do that and keep my room cold (and the students complaining) than have to lie about moaning as I used to before the advent of birth control.

I've tried hormone treatment once. Left me sobbing without reason at random intervals. Never again. Maybe it's that my levels are already high - I get the hot sweats thing already just in the normal order of things. In puberty I was constantly asweat.

But god yeah, that's the part that always gets me - bad enough to feel weak and crappy and pathetic, but to have to grit your way through your regular routine at the same time? Ugh.

Regular painkillers help some. They also tend to knock me out, so trade off there, sigh...

I have no advice to offer since I stopped having cramps after college (started getting queasy instead), but I've tons of sympathy to offer. I remember well how not-fun they were.

Hope it's all better soon!

Aw, thank you. That at least is the one good part - I already know how long they last. It's just gritting my teeth until then.

Let's form up a superheroine duo team. I will melt faces. You will beam cramps. We'll be unstoppable, I tell you!

I shall be Cramp Queen. You should be Mistress Melter.

... or is Countess Cramp better?
