Yeah. And it's more than a "bad boy with a heart of gold" thing going on. It's that "William" was...well... a dweeb. And that dweeb constructed this ubercool persona. Hell, he sort of became that ubercool persona, but he try though he might, he never managed to completely exorcize the inner dweeb. One thing I did love about the AtS finale was Spike reading his poetry. In a way it was like he'd finally found some level of acceptance for his inner geek.
