It's now definitely spring!

After the landmark heron sighting in the park the other day, I made a pact with myself to not go walking without a camera on me... and then I remembered why I hadn't been doing that, because when I have a camera on me, all I do is take pictures. But fortunately, there happened to be a lot to see, as in OMG, BABY CHICKS EVERYWHERE!! An embarrassing number of fuzzy gosling pictures are now in my galleries. I couldn't believe the parent geese let me get that close to their little darlings. They were BIG, and I've seen them hissy at people before - scary!

It was really hard not to just reach out and try to pick them up, because they were just so cute and fuzzy. Next time, I might bring seeds to see if they'll come right up to feed.

George & Gracie (Peregrine) News

I just stumbled upon this article about the SF peregrine pair laying their eggs beneath the Bay Bridge, and the plans to rescue them from such a hazardous spot:

Yeah, I had seen that - I'd actually thought you were the one who had originally pointed me to it, but it may just be that I came across it shortly after you told me about George and Gracie to begin with, so I got those mixed up in my mind.

I haven't heard new anything since then, but since the rescuers are keeping such an eye on them, I'm hoping that everything went okay. (cross fingers)
