Well, pretty clearly the hoped-for window to regale you all with my adventures / trials, etc., over the holidays never really opened. Le sigh. In the interests of brevity, here's the short list. Over the last few months I have:

• Gone on a trip to Mexico with the in-laws in which the airline lost my luggage. Permanently, so far - Toys and I have filed a report that I fully expect to end in a reimbursement check rather than our bag being found, not that they pay you full value. (Fascinating note! Airlines reimburse you by the pound for lost bags, and that fabulous barcode on your baggage claim check doesn't actually do anything. The More You Know!) Guess who's going back to only taking carry-on bags on a trip?

• Had a very lazy Xmas day watching an all-car-movies marathon with friend Big J: Vanishing Point, a 1996 made-for-TV remake of Vanishing Point (starring, I kid-you-not, Viggo Mortenson), Death Proof, and Speed Racer. Very enjoyable. I can hearily recommend the original Vanishing Point and Death Proof. The others, not so much although the contrast of the VP remake was seriously illuminating.

• Got hooked on Burn Notice thanks to [livejournal.com profile] monkey_junkey, so now I finally have some new TV to look forward to beyond Nip/Tuck and the Adult Swim lineup. (Of which, I should mention that our household is now hooked on Superjail, which is just weird enough to defy description, and that's just the way we like it.)

• Finally saw Wall-E with friends N and S, and loved it thoroughly. Good timing, too, as Toys is now on a sort of robot-appreciation renaissance - the day after our Wall-E viewing, his mail-order copy of Ro-Busters was delivered and he's been knee-deep in nostalgic 2000 AD reading and Pat Mills love.

• Spent New Year's eve working on comics with Toys, as we're now throwing our full energy into collaborating artistically. Wish us luck!

• Actually made progress on one of my languishing WIPs, "Blinded, Battered, and Broken," a Xander-POV story I started yonks ago and never got past the first chapter. On New Year's Eve, it finally started speaking to me again. Hallelujah! With luck, an update coming soon.

• Battled a migraine, which I'm only just now getting over.

• Went to the zoo, where we saw many water birds, a super-cute owl, and exotic turkeys, and petted goats and a sleepy armadillo!

• Baked persimmon bread and several batches of Xmas cookies.

• Made New Year's resolutions to write more, see friends more, and generally be more social instead of exaustedly lurking about. Also, to ass-kick my career into gear.

There's more, I'm sure, but those were the highlights. : )

A Very Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] molly_may!!
