Once upon a time, he made us cry with this stuff, and now we're meant to laugh and not care?
I really don't know what Joss wants us to make of it and I'm still leaning toward the side that he really doesn't give a damn. He must have known how much fans of the show would revile that crap, that's why he said he'd disregard them at Paley if he had to. And really? That just makes it all the much worse because it suggests he knows he's telling one story to one core audience (young women that watched the show) and another to a different audience (young men who read the comics).
