Shiny Happy
Jan. 19th, 2004 04:50 pmI promised happy fic recs, and lo, I deliver. (I should mention here that some fics I'll be recommending are adult. 'Cause, y'know, sex. And stuff. I'll try to flag the raunchiest ones so as not to shock the unawares. But most of the following should be fairly all-ages - nothing you haven't seen on the show.) A lot of these links are through All About Spike - 'cause, y'know, I like that site - and they're also short, easy-to-digest bites, so dig right in. It won't take long at all.
Mahaliem's Conversations With the Scoobies hunkers down and does what, for some myterious reason, the show didn't - use the Potentials as the ideal exposition tool by having the Scoobies "explain" things to them. In this case, what's the deal with having Spike in the house, as reflected through various sets of eyes. Cute and cuter.
Then there's the Buffy Summers Diary series by Lori, which starts with "Older and Far Away," and continues in a second story that goes Alternate Universe-y in "As You Were," Buffy Summers' Diary: The Return of Riley. These are written in the voice of Bridget Jones, are short, cute reads, are very, very funny, and a take on the character of Buffy that's genuinely endearing, and quite a bit larger with actual emotions like affection. Enjoy. Then, as a counterpoint, read Jonquil's Spike Jones' Diary for the male take on things, albeit different seasons, different eps. Still fun. For some reason this format really works for both characters. And isn't that an odd little factoid?
Now, try Indri's
