Why? Why? Why?

My iBook just died. Weird, blinky screen effects when I tried to move it, such as to hold it on your lap, like a, y'know, laptop, and now the screen won't come on at all. (I had so much I was going to write today too! Agh!)

The hubby won't be home for another three hours. I'd prefer to consult before dragging the thing off to the repair shop, because he knows more tech tricks than I, but then again, I still have time to make it to the Mac Doc before they close... ugh. I hate technical problems! Hate! Hate! Hate!

Decisions, Decisions

Well, the repair guy at Total Mac (who gave me an assessment for free, what a sweetie) tells me that it's possible I might have a machine with a video defect that's up for an Apple recall. That's the best-case scenario - I'd get a free repair, even if the warranty's expired. On the other hand, it could also be the logic board, which could cost me up to about half what I'd pay to buy a new one. Starting to think the best option might be to get a new machine and get this one repaired, so the hubby and I can both have a laptop on hand (intensely productive, Airport-using work-from-home types that we are, I could see the benefit of this). In the meantime, I'm stuck working on his desk machine, which I can't sit at for very long (not in love with his chair, which bothers my back), and I don't have access any of the files I had in progress anyway. Boo, hiss! All this caffine-driven energy going to waste....

This is Ridiculous

Christ, crawling around on Quizilla is a laugh and a half. In just a few mintues of bored plonking I found out I have a "rebellious" soul, that I'm the reincarnation of Aphrodite, and I prefer plain ol' vanilla sex. Haw!
