How easy it is to become derailed from one's ambitions - the simple matter of finishing up my Round 2 thoughts on "Shells," which didn't get done weeks ago because of my laptop's suddenly developed fatal flaw, has been a gruesome uphill grind. But anyway, it's done now - for those who care, my thoughts on part one are here, and in this part, I ramble on about Dark Wes, Gunn, Knox, and Illyria.

(Note: I actually really enjoyed this episode a lot, especially as compared to "A Hole in the World," but as to where the plot might go after this, that... hoo boy. I'm missing the glory days of arguing over the Shanshu already.) On Angel 5.16, Shells, Part 2 - Look Upon My Works Ye Mighty, and Despair )

Yeah, think indeed...

In other news, tonight's Simpsons, with its Sarah Michelle-Gellar guest appearance as a juvenile hall resident tough girl, had freaky echoes of Spike/Buffy in its Defiant Ones homage pairing in a prison escape with Bart. Most Wince-Inducing Line: mom Marge Simpson telling Bart, "You shouldn't hang out with people who beat you up! They're not your real friends!"

Then the second Simpsons ep, they visit England. Where the kids eat too much sugar. And it goes all Trainspotting. And then it got slashy. And Ian MacKellen got struck by lightning repeatedly.

This is just weird. And eerie.
