It is entirely possible, I've found out, to be awesomely jetlagged without even realizing you are. I know this because I've only really recovered now, having lost about a whole day in there somewhere to general sleepiness. I've burned two things in two days trying to cook on the stove (and normally I'm quite good at that), I've been unable to pull my brain together clearly enough to answer emails or generally talk to anyone at all... if I've seemed a little out of touch so far... uh, well, that's why.

In between bouts of groggy, I've been furiously picking away at my Spuffyficathon entry (9,000 words and counting, and due inside three days, yikes, and the sticking points are filling in the smutty parts, not my strong suit, argh!) and trying (vainly) to catch up on my Friends list. I've about given up on the liklihood of that happening at this point - Skip200 barely got me back a week. So, lovely Friends, if you've updated a story, posted a neat screed, just want me to come strolling by and take a look? Please, please, please drop me a line and let me know.

Some wonderful person on my Flist catching-up blur pointed me to [livejournal.com profile] theohara, aka Helga Van Nutwimple's journal, and her wonderful story As Romans Do, which I can't stop reading right now. It's post-AtS - or rather, starts in the middle of "Not Fade Away," and has so many neat facets I can't quite describe. Also plug-worthy of the day is [livejournal.com profile] kassto's response to a rewatch of Buffy Season 6 - it's like I remember saying at some point, I've been curious to see what messages sift out from that series once the dust has settled enough that we can all call it history, and I'm seeing it happen now, people sifting through the experience to find what nuggets of gold they can take away. The whole thing's kind of immensely fascinating, and there's a good point there about disappointment being a main driver for continuing creative work set in that universe (e.g., fanfic). If there weren't holes that needed filling, there'd be less of drive behind all of us to rush in and fill them....

And yes, I am still going to do big journal updates on our trip. I still haven't downloaded the pictures from my camera yet! (slaps self awake)
