Man, That Was Some Tantrum
Oct. 9th, 2004 06:42 amRevelatory thought about last night's Presidental debate - I think that was very possibly the first time ever that Bush Jr. has had to sit through a situation where he's a) being told he's wrong b) asked to justify himself and his decisions and c) held accountable for the answers. God knows he certainly he never had to do it in his business career - all boardroom exec jobs in which he walked off with a fat paycheck even when the company itself tanked. It's a fair bet those working-class "widows" didn't get a lot of comfort from George.
Other than that, just a note that I was bored immediately by the reappearance of all the same Iraq rhetoric right off the bat... but after seeing Dubya go into major hiss and spit mode, I have to say that I'm starting to think it's strategy on Kerry's part. He's baiting Bush on purpose because the guy falls for it every time, like a doggie jumping for a biscuit. I've gained some new respect for the dude. Talking points, sure, boring, but... dayum. Psychological warfare. I think I'm actually hopeful now.
