I'm using this occasion, the morning after the new Harry Potter release, to debut one of my new Power Rangers SPD icons because hey, kids' stuff is cool, don'tcha know. Seriously, how neat is it that the big cultural event of the moment - for kids, especially - is a book release party? In my day (yeah, yeah, wheeze, wheeze, I'm so old, whatever), bookworms, of which I was definitely one, were the geeks. Nowadays, being into Harry Potter, a book series, means you're normal - neuvaux nerds line up for opening day of the new video game platform. That's a headspinning identity transformation. Used to be, sports were the cool thing, and reading was nerdy, but with performance-enhancing drugs throwing off that curve, brains are the new muscles. I mean, c'mon, how many movies in the past ten years ago or so have idolized hackers?
