Oh, C'mon! Funny!

Woe is me, I can't seem to get anyone interested in going to see Doom on Friday. Not that I think it's going to be a great film - hardly! - but from the trailers, it at least looks laughably slavish to the video game concept, plus it has The Rock looking his usual variety of blokey + lickable, toss-up as to which is more appealing (probably the blokey). I know I enjoyed The Rundown way more than it deserved, and that was even before the bonus Christopher Walken round, so I'm willing to try washing the taste of Resident Evil 2 out of my mouth with this one.

Someday I'll have to pen a treatise on Power Rangers - no, really! About how crayon-colored costumes and toy-friendly gadgetry lead to The Ultimate Triumph of Cooperation and Friendship, and Why Villains Always End Up Lonely, Even if Their Costumes Are Cooler. There's something there, I tell ya.

In other news, I'm still enjoying the hell out of Night Stalker, although this latest episode was pretty darn grim. I think it's the blend of Forever Knight-style imagery and blipvert montages with the good horror use of sound.... brrr. Plus, Townsend has spooky eyes. Spooky!
