Musica and Motivations
Mar. 6th, 2006 06:02 pmStrange item this morning on the bus: someone, I'd assumed another passenger, started singing out loud, prompting comments from a rider near me, "that ain't no American Idol!" Turned out, not another passenger, but the driver. On the loudspeaker. That was... different.
I was wearing headphones myself, missed out on some of this while it was happening at first. Had my own drama going on - the morning bus is crowded, always, and I have open-style headphones, the over-the-ear hook type that aren't always, shall we say, soundproof. And of course while I'm having to stand directly over a sweet little old lady, the good old iPod decides to offer up a DJ Funk tune, which was surely at least tinnily audible in barking out "Ass! Titties! Ass and Titties! Ass ass titties titties ass and titties!" (I find this stuff hilarious, but it's an acquired taste.) Needless to say, my thumb was fast on the shuffle button.
Tomorrow, my temp job goes full time for the next couple of weeks. I'm getting back into the groove of working again, at least temporarily. At the very least, it's making me better about figuring out how to budget my time, but I'm seriously going to have to come up with a compromise for daily exercise. I'm really missing the morning walks I used to take, and feeling the effects in my lower back of not doing it. Maybe I'll try walking home from work - that's a nice few miles. If the weather holds up.
