A Very Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] molly_may!!

Hope you have a great one, and a fantastic year ahead!

I'll spare you the usual I'm behind behind behind on LJ litany - even though, as usual, it's true, and I'm missing chatting with my online friends terribly; there's something I hope that my fortunes in 2008 will find some way to change - and move right along to visualizing for you some terrible San Francisco weather.

Because really, we don't get it all that often. The typical SF day is either a) clear and blue or b) misty and foggy or b) in the morning and a) in the evening, with very slight variations on that pattern (colder or warmer being the main variations), depending on your neighborhood and relative microclimate. Winter usually means, like, a little rain.

Today, though.... we've been hit with some kind of windstorm. I heard it start up last night, rattling the windowshade. (Nobody in California seems to know how to build windows that don't let the wind straight in, I swear... well, that, and we also had the window open a crack for fresh air.) And this morning, when I went out, it was like a scene from Resident Evil - the toppled trash cans, the papers strewn in the street, the distant sirens. I even saw a cop car zipping by, flashers going, while I held onto my umbrella for dear life, hard enough to make my fingers cramp.

It's awesome. If, y'know... wet. : )

I'm off to work now. It should be an interesting commute - and snce I'll be in the SOMA area, which is notoriously poorly wired for its high-tech residents, I would not be at all surprised if the power went out today. (Power outtages in SOMA are like snow days for adults... hey, one can hope.)
