No, I agree none of this was probably planned. It's just how it plays to me, now that I'm watching it as one piece. Whether the intention was to turn Angel into the guy giving up his Shanshu was the idea from the start, that's the way the cookie evenually crumbled. Weird.
And yeah, the Cordy magic kiss was a total plot contrivance. It came off to me that way at the time. Sorry if I didn't make that utterly clear. It plays better as part of the whole, but nothing's gonna it not seem like anything more than after-the-fact plot doctoring it really was.
