Am I the only one apart from the author who's been thinking, "Poor Buffy"? He's treating her as tainted, and she knows herself to be, in fact, more of a demon than the man he thinks he is. He thinks he's an innocent, and that she is not -- and she knows she's not. His condemnation hurts her, even if she tries to find it funny.
