Don't worry at all about feeling the lateness - hey, I'm only now just getting enough time to write everyone replies! Glad you're happy to see more of this! : )
I caught that the other day, watching an episode -- she's comfortable with Angel, he's easier with her than he is with most people. Spike and Buffy are constantly yearning for more, bumping into each other's sore spots, places that hurt and intrigue. He's new to her every day.
That's exactly what I was going for - I kept trying to find a way to come at what we were given in "Chosen," the way she sits and talks to Angel as if there was no distance, no breakup, no haven't-seen-you-in-months... they're really constants in each other's lives. Even if it's only faux-consistency, it feels real to them for those moments. Ironically, in thinking about it, it made B/A that much more interesting to me, for that whole willfull ignorance aspect - neither one of them really wants to know too much about the other's daily lives anymore. It's the fantasy they'd rather hang onto, and conciously so.... although for Buffy, I think the fantasy is finally starting to crack. Has to, in fact, because their lives are starting to overlap again, and without the distance, that fantasy can't be maintained.
Whew! So yeah, in short, there'll be more thoughts on B/A. and B/S coming up. : )
