I'm finally starting to sort through photos of the London trip; for some reason, I did a lot of shooting at night. Wish I'd had better than a pocket camera on hand - I was feeling more artistic than usual.

Probably near Trafalgar; can you tell it was raining shortly before this? Ah, winter in London.

Thanks! I do always seem to end up taking the same type of pictures over and over again, whenever I'm there - there's always a set from Westminster Bridge, for example, probably because we typically walk across from Waterloo station, and also because it's just such an "Look, I'm in London!" postcard shot. I really should put together some kind of timeline of my old Britain pics, because they're so unorganized that I don't even have print copies of most of them.

Cooooooooooool!!!!

Husband and I are currently in negotiations about the UK...I would be happy to spend 2 weeks in London; he wants to spend 2 weeks doing a tour of Celtic-music/local brews/local whiskey pub crawl through Ireland. I love Celtic music and whiskey, but not THAT much.

Plus...eeee...London! Perhaps we will just have to split up...

I dunno - Ireland sound pretty fun to me! I've never been there, but the landscape looks incredible. And I'm told Dublin is quite fun. That said, though, it would be easy to spend two weeks in London doing nothing but sightseeing, although it's a horribly expensive city to stay in. (We got off easy this time bunking with relatives.) Split the difference - week in London, week in Ireland?

Ooh, so pretty! I've only been in London a couple of times, and never really felt I *got* it when I was there--yet I've read so many books and seen so many TV shows and movies set there, I almost feel I know it anyway. I love the juxtaposition of the ancient and the space-age in this picture.

Thanks! I took a fair number of "motion" pictures but it was the person on the cell phone in front of the bus that did it for me in this one. Ironically, even though everyone I saw had a mobile there, I saw people talking on them in public far less rarely than I usually do in SF When we got home, I swear there were three conversations on the bus alone, and that was almost more than I overheard the whole time I was in England!

I'm fairly sure that's where we were. I took a bunch of pictures that night because the lights were looking so fetching, but I can never identify Trafalgar for sure if I can't see the pigeons. I'm still learning the other buildings in the area, I guess.

Lovely! It's impressive you got such clarity in such low light. You must have a *really* steady hand.

I loved London too. I'm so glad I finally went.

I can usually handhold pretty steady at about 1/30th of a second, which is a little lower than they recommend (1/60th), but this was more like a half second, so I'm surprised it came out as clearly as it did. Some other shots took maybe three exposures before I got a clear one, and others had a sort of "soft" almost painted effect that I sort of liked.

London is a fantastic city - I could explore it for weeks, months, years. So much to see.

Thanks! I have others I haven't gotten around to prepping yet, but I'll probably post more as I get around to that.
