No, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth - Toys and I just went on a little jaunt over the weekend to visit my relatives back East in the lovely "battleground" state of Michigan. We're back now, in California, where the candidates don't particularly care about our votes, but the trip itself was pretty illuminating. (Cut for the benefit of those who wish to flee from politics right now, and I certainly don't blame you.) See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me, Heal Me )

Biggest surprise while I was gone - somebody nominated "Dirty Back Road" for another award. "Best Long Fic" and "Most Original Plot" at Vampire's Kiss Awards. I mean, this is just amazing. You folks are being way too nice to me. Thank you.

And holy crap! A bunch of new people have friended me recently! I probably should put together some kind of "hi, there" post, but most of the interesting stuff I have to say I'll be saying eventually anyway, so I'll just say welcome, please make yourselves at home. And please don't be offended if I don't friend you back - I'm actually very slow at friending people because adding more persons makes the flist bigger and takes more time, and I'm just.. a lame-o who takes too long getting around to things.

Back to writing fic now...

It's another slightly cliffhangery chapter, please be warned. Sorry about that. Previous chapters here. Does It Have to Mean Something? Chapter 4 )

Zowie, I just saw a lunar eclipse. On route back from the video store (San Francisco's finest, Le Video in the Sunset), arms loaded with obscure horror to air on our traditional Halloween Horror Video Show party night, I stumbled over to the bus stop and found a gaggle of hipsters hanging out by the local cafe/gallery observing the moon getting swallowed by the shadow of the sun. With lawn chairs and video cameras, I kid you not. We all stood there, mouths hanging open and with techno music pumping out of the cafe, and just marveled on astronomy - and so perfect too, right near Halloween, full moon, and the shadow made the moon look like a dusty marble, darn near blood red.

If I were a more suspicious type, I'd say portents, fellas, portents...
