Morning Meanderings..
Jan. 25th, 2005 11:09 amOkay, it's back to working on fic for me, tea and toast and fish-out-of-water William. Fell asleep late watching TV last night, with all the lights on, no less - without Toys here, I tend to get morose without a lot of distraction, and can't sleep. But at least I'm getting a lot of writing done. Last night's programming - the remake version of The Thomas Crown Affair, with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo ( I adore this movie beyond all reason, particularly the music), and *cough* Wild Things, which is trash, but enjoyable trash, with Kevin Bacon in the buff, even! I guess I was feeling like sooper-sekrit caper films or something. Maybe I'll put on Into the Night next. That movie fascinates me for reasons I can never adquately explain.
Movies I need to pick up on disc someday soon, just to remind myself: Quatermass and the Pit (color version, and it's been backordered on amazon for months, what's up with that?), which I was reminded of by discussions here about the London Underground - ooh, spooky!; Paint Your Wagon, just because I don't have it, and I really should, as I too have been born under a wanderin' star; and Choose Me, another film I saw years ago and never forgot, a good indicator that it's one I'll rewatch. That movie had some really fascinating things to say about relationships, and more importantly, how sex fits into relationships that feels like a current topic to me right about now. I would add that the Shaun of the Dead DVD is a super-good buy for extras (Toys's Xmas present, because he's Johnny Zombie) - I've never seen a director who did a better job of filling in the blanks of his own story. You really get the feeling you could ask the guy anything and he'd have an answer. (Plus the "TV edited" segment, with toned-down cursing, is hysterical. Get the funking funk out of here!) Not that I have money to spend right now. (holds head)
Silly link: Lord of the Rings animated gif. It's 1.4 mb; click and give it a few seconds to load. Hey, I thought it was pretty damn funny.
