What I've Been Up To
Feb. 6th, 2006 09:51 amSo I've been quiet here lately because I've been working - hallelujah! - on a freelance job. Editing work on book projects, in my area of expertise. So not a steady salary, but a good start. I have a much better feeling about my prospects this year.
And perhaps because I've got other things to do now, by way of procrastination, I've also been blazing a white streak on the fic-writing. My interminable WIP "Does It Have to Mean Something?" is finally getting close to a wrap. ( No spoilers, just writing ruminations )
( My Buffy, My Spike Memeage )
In other news, the Super Bowl party we went to yesterday was good fun - great eats, thanks to ActionGirl, and MechMan's parents in attendance meant that at least somewhere there actually cared about the game. (I was utterly neutral - it was two teams in tight outfits prancing for my amusement, yo; you might as well have asked me to care about the results of a bikini-mud-wrestling match.) That said, both the game and the ads were fairly unremarkable, although it'll be a long time before I lose the memory of that Burger King ad with "burger patty lass." (shudder) Our audience actually got more out of switching to Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl than the game itself. (The kitty halftime show was totally worth seeing - kittens playing on a carpeted stage surrounded by disco lights - cuuuuute!)
Finally saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Okay, that was fun. At some point, really need to see it again when I'm not working. Second-favorite destroy-the-house love scene, check.
