Feb. 21st, 2007 11:32 amHave you ever noticed that when you're tired/off your sleep schedule that your mind doesn't work right at all? I sure have. Which is probably why I'm a few days behind on postings, TV thoughts, etc., but at least I can report that Ghost Rider ROCKS THE HOUSE. Dude! What an enjoyable cartoon of a movie. What I wouldn't give to have my very own penance stare.
What Is Awesome: Realizing, one morning, that your bathroom scale's been misadjusted by about four pounds or so for god only knows how long, so either you didn't gain as much weight over the holidays as you thought you had, or you've managed to lose most of it. Nice.
What's Not So Awesome: The coffeeshop you typically habituate in the mornings being closed for Chinese New Year, necessitating a visit instead to The Other Coffeehouse on the Street (not a Starbucks - we actually don't have one really close by... yet), a nice place except for that it's too small and awkward to manuever in on the best of occasions, never mind a Sunday morning when it's jammed to the gills with every trendy twentysomething in the immediate area who looks like an extra from Friends. I'm old and crotechy enough to remember when this place was a little more genuinely bohemian, the atmosphere kinda shabby, the ramshackle furnishings comfortable. Nowadays... can I invent a new word? Let's call it Faux-Bohemian, or "FauxHo."
One funny thing, though: the little baby dangling on Young!Mommy's knee, who'd reached that point of boredom where throwing objects on the floor suddenly became great fun. Unfortunately, at my foot while I waited in line, but even that was worth it to see Young!Daddy get up each time and pick up the cereal bowl, toy, number for their table service, etc., all with good humor. Yes, I know - pretty baseline for dadhood, but it still does the heart good.
