I didn't want to combine this with the previous post, and so...
God, what a miserable tragedy in Minneapolis. This is a BIG disaster, another Katrina-level structural failure. I've seen at least one media source comment as being similar to the damage you'd see from a California earthquake. Boy howdy, yes. Only the Bay Bridge collapse during Loma Prieta quake only lost one section, not the entire structure, which fell onto the lower deck of roadway below it, not into the water, and it was carrying lighter traffic load than usual for rush hour, because the World Series was in town. The sight of all those cars in the water is just reminding me how lucky, relative terms, that coincidence was. And how close we all are to disaster, anywhere, anytime. My thoughts are with everyone in there right now.
Otherwise, I guess I should probably report in that I've felt very little like posting or commenting lately. Wank is omnipresent (although necessary, one could argue, in both cases that I've seen, and even educational if you could call it that) and pretty much anything I could say about fannish or political subjects would be mean, and inclined to piss people off. I'm not sure if anyone really needs to hear me vent my spleen re: "Daleks Take Manhattan," the Buffy comic (I took a peek at Joss's one-shot; really shouldn't have), or various news items about our nation's "leaders." I will let off one bit of stem on the mailbox sticker I got confronted with the other morning.
( Grr )
Told you I was in a mean mood.
