Ah, the joy of uploading new icons. To my InsaneJournal. Which, although I'm a freeloader with a free account gives me 100 ICONS up front. Boo-yah, friends and neighbors! Considering that's the only extra I pay for with LJ, I think that counts as kind of an incentive.

Short and sweet: yeah, I'm pissed off about the latest round of deletions. Specifically the no-warning-it's-gone-no-refund-no-appeal aspect of it. This is, in digital terms, the equivalent of vanishing someone, and if users don't have a voice in this process at all? Well, I've always had a bit of a problem with living in a "democracy" where businesses are allowed to override even the most basic considerations of said democracy because hey, business! Y'know, like that old saying of the Golden Rule being "he that got the gold make the rule." And as long as they've got your gold, what do they need with you, 'ey?

I'll be spending some time looking around at my backup journals. I'm on GreatestJournal and JournalFen under the same name; look for me, I'll look for you. I don't kid myself that I've never done anything someone might find objectionable - it's not community standards one has to worry about with a one-click abuse report, but what some random person might not like - and even if I did think I was squeaky-clean and would ever remain so? I don't support this happening to other people. I can see why LJ is behaving the way they are - the words "ass-covering" leap to mind, and getting rid of anything that might provoke Federal involvement is an understandable decision in the current political climate, but it doesn't exactly make them less weenie and cowardly about doing it this way. To stomp away in protest is lame, you might say, but it's not nothing. At the very least there's the VOICE part.

I loading up all my ultra-ultra geeky weird icons that I've saved over the years to IJ. The Buffy ones are all so sedate. Get ready for weird cartoons!
